Course Overview

The Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) course is a teaching qualification in the Further Education (FE) sector, designed to prepare a person who is new to teaching or training, or considering taking on a role as a teacher or trainer. It is the first of a number of qualifications that have been designed to give a teacher or trainer the ‘building blocks’ to become more skilled in their role. 

The course consists of 3 units:

  • Understanding Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Education and Training
  • Using and Understanding Inclusive Teaching and Learning Approaches in Education and Training
  • Understanding Assessment in Education and Training

Course Requirements

There are no specific requirements for this course, however, learners should be capable of studying at Level 3. 

  • Maths and English at Level 2 are desirable as well as a satisfactory level of IT skills.

How long is this course?

The duration depends on the delivery model.  The distance learning course is flexible and self-paced and usually takes around 6 months to complete. The classroom course is delivered over 5 days, and it takes learners roughly 2 weeks – 1 month to submit all assessments.

How is this course delivered?

We have different delivery models available for this course.  The classroom learning course can be delivered in-house, face-to-face or online.  We also have some public courses that are delivered face-to-face and are open for individuals to book on. The Level 3 Education and Training course can also be accessed via distance learning.  

How do payments work for this course?

What can I progress onto from this course?

On completion of this course you could progress to the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training or the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement.

When do learners have to complete registration by?

• For classroom courses, registration should be completed before the first day of the course.
